Valentine's Day is fast approaching! Are you loving on the skin on the rest of your body? Self-Love is the best love so let's talk about products for skincare on the body. On this month's blog, we explore options for underarms, ingrown hair and intimate hygiene.
Our skin is the largest organ of the body! We often focus on the skin of the face because the "face card" must never decline, right? The skin on the rest of the body deserves attention and care as well. The of high-quality skin care on other parts of the body is a trend I want to see carried forward for all my clients! Here are a few areas and conditions I see with clients and complimentary products to support healthy skin.
Underarms - Anti-Perspirant vs. Deodorant
Did you know there is a difference between anti-perspirant and deodorant? Anti-perspirants contain active ingredients such as aluminum chloride, aluminum zirconium, or aluminum chlorohydrate. These common ingredients work by forming temporary plugs in the sweat ducts, which reduce the flow of sweat to the skin's surface. Deodorants are often added to anti-perspirants so there are comparably few deodorant-only options. The skin should perspire but we should not smell bad.
Some people express concerns with underarm skin discoloration due to long-term use of anti-perspirants. This is caused by the bacterial growth and long-term plugs created by the aluminum ingredients. Others may experience more significant effects such as rashes and aluminum exposure, leading to serious health concerns.

Ingrown Hair - It's more than just exfoliation!
Dealing with ingrown hair can be painful and unsightly on the face or any other part of the body. Hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, sugaring or depilatories can trigger ingrown hair and skin irritation. Scrubs, exfoliating mitts and other manual exfoliants are often recommended but may not be the most effective methods to support skin health. The better the skin health, the better the hair removal results!
